MESTRE Jô
C.Mestre Jô is the founder of Centro Cultural Equipe Jô Capoeira. C.Mestre Jô is one of the leading capoeiristas in the world and has branches of her group in Juazeiro-Bahia, Niteroi-RJ, New York City, Maryland, Greensboro, Washington D.C., Hawaii, Madrid, Cordoba, Hong Kong and Japan. C.Mestre Jô has run classes at the University of California in Los Angeles, was interviewed by the New York Times, and starred in the programme "Egg" for PBS channel 13. She also performed in the opening of the millennium party in New York's Times Square. She was interviewed for the magazines Teenage Woman's Health, Capoeira Review, Practising Capoeira, Planet Capoeira, and Portal Capoeira. She was part of the Dance Company Brazil, with Turnes in the United States and Europe, and "Clan Capoeira" in France. She has a vast portfolio of shows, video clips and photo shoots. C. Mestre Jô also worked for NIKE, GAP and SONY. In Brazil, she participated in the programmes Faustao, Angelica, Program Doll in 1998, Xuxa Park, in the series Turns Can, Four for Four, Malhacao and others. C.Mestre Jô has traveled the world with capoeira. Within Brazil, more than 30 cities. Outside Brazil: more than 25 cities in the United States, 2 cities in Puerto Rico, 2 cities in Poland, 2 cities in Switzerland, 2 cities in Germany, 5 cities in Greece, 12 cities in Spain, 1 city in Turky, 1 city in Croatia, 3 cities in England, 1 city in Italy, 2 cities in Holland, 1 city in Belgium, 6 cities in France, 2 cities in Colombia, 2 cities in Chile, 2 cities in Portugal, 1 city in Argentina, 2 cities in Venezuela, 2 cities in China and 1 city in Japan. The presence of C.Mestre Jô was a success in the United States, where she lived for 6 years representing the Brazilian Culture by promoting the art of capoeira. C.Mestre Jô is considered one of the best capoeristas in the world.
